Dr. Ryan Smith joined Hawaii Heart Associates in 2021 as a founding cardiologist, bringing a wealth of experience from his 15 years of service in the United States Army. As an Internal Medicine physician and cardiologist, he completed two deployments to Afghanistan with the prestigious 10th Mountain and 101st Airborne Divisions. Dr. Smith earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine before completing his training at Tripler Army Medical Center and a cardiology fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. In addition to his medical qualifications, he holds a business degree from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA.

His expertise in cardiology encompasses pacemaker and ICD implantation, echocardiography, and cholesterol management. Dr. Smith is passionate about community health and aims to establish Hawaii's first primary prevention cholesterol clinic. He is also dedicated to raising awareness about sudden cardiac death and promoting CPR training and AED education within the community.

When he's not practicing medicine, Dr. Smith enjoys golfing, surfing, diving, and running. He has completed five marathons and looks forward to continuing this tradition annually. Dr. Smith is affiliated with several medical centers, including Castle Medical Center, Kuakini Medical Center, Maui Memorial Medical Center, and Hilo Medical Center.
